Our Aftercare Guide
Your tattoo or piercing does not end when you leave the studio. Proper aftercare is one of the most important parts of the healing process and plays a major role in the long term appearance of your work. At Valei Arts, we provide professional aftercare guidance to help protect your investment, promote proper healing, and keep your tattoo or piercing looking its best.
Tattoo Aftercare
Tattoo Aftercare Instructions
Always wash your tattoo with clean hands using warm water and liquid antibacterial soap. Do not use bar soap.
Gently pat the area dry with a clean paper towel. Do not rub or scrub the tattoo.
Apply a very thin layer of unscented, uncolored lotion or aftercare ointment recommended by your artist, such as Aquaphor.
Repeat this process morning and night, or anytime your tattoo is exposed to dirt, excessive sweating, or outdoor elements.
During the Healing Process
Do not swim, soak, or expose your tattoo to pools, hot tubs, oceans, or baths for at least two weeks.
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning while healing.
Showers are fine, but avoid prolonged water exposure.
Do not pick, scratch, or peel your tattoo while it heals.
Avoid tight clothing or anything that may excessively rub against the tattooed area.
Healing times may vary depending on the tattoo size, placement, skin type, and aftercare routine. If you have any questions or concerns during the healing process, please contact the Valei Arts team.
Proper aftercare is essential to the healing and long term appearance of your tattoo. Following these instructions carefully will help reduce the risk of irritation, infection, and healing issues while keeping your tattoo looking its best.
Piercing Aftercare
Piercing Aftercare Instructions
Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching or cleaning your piercing for any reason.
Clean the piercing using a sterile saline solution as recommended by your piercer. For certain placements, applying saline with clean gauze may be easier and more effective.
If instructed by your piercer, gently clean around the piercing using a mild soap free of dyes, fragrances, or harsh chemicals. Avoid antibacterial soaps containing triclosan.
Rinse the area thoroughly to remove all traces of soap or saline after cleaning.
Do not rotate, twist, or excessively move the jewelry during healing.
Gently pat the area dry using clean disposable paper products. Avoid cloth towels, as they can harbor bacteria and snag jewelry.
During the Healing Process
Avoid touching your piercing unless necessary for cleaning.
Do not remove jewelry during the healing period.
Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes, and oceans while healing when possible.
Keep makeup, lotions, and hair products away from the piercing area.
Avoid sleeping directly on fresh piercings when possible.
Healing times vary depending on the piercing type, placement, lifestyle, and aftercare consistency.
If you experience unusual swelling, excessive irritation, or have questions during the healing process, please contact the Valei Arts team.
Proper aftercare is extremely important for the healing and longevity of your piercing. Following these instructions carefully will help minimize irritation, reduce the risk of infection, and promote healthy healing.
